Arts & Business, the charity for encouraging private sector investment in the arts, has merged with the Business in the Community charity. The move saves Arts & Business from closure, after its funding was withdrawn by Arts Council England last year.
But the number of staff in its England office will fall from 26 to about 21 by March; operations in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland were devolved last year. Chief executive Colin Tweedy has resigned as part of the arrangement, moving into a fundraising role.
A press statement said: “This merger will see Arts & Business return to its business roots, working with corporate members to promote their support of cultural projects across the UK.”
