The Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA) has published its response to the Accreditation consultation, which took into account the views of more than 1,000 stakeholders.

In Accreditation: The Way Forward, the MLA says that it will simplify the application process, with only new applicants needing to apply from scratch. For museums that already hold Accreditation, revised two- or three-yearly reporting procedures will be developed.

Museums will also be able to use visitors comments to show how they have responded to communities. There will be a further opportunity for museums to contribute to the draft standard, before it is finalised, over the next couple of months.
