The Victoria and Albert (V&A) museum's satellite branch in Dundee has moved a step closer following funding pledges from Dundee City Council and the Scottish government.
“The city council agreed unanimously at the policy and resources committee to provide £30,000 towards ongoing development work,” said a council spokesman.
A spokesman for the Scottish government, meanwhile, said its funding commitment depended on the Comprehensive Spending Review, although it would be a “significant amount”.
The museum, which is due to open by 2014, will house contemporary collections from the V&A, and host international touring exhibitions. It is expected to cost £43m.
