ACE seeks 150 assessors
Arts Council England (ACE) aims to recruit 150 artistic assessors whose evaluations will help inform the body's funding decisions. The assessors will report on the work of ACE's regularly funded organisations. Successful candidates will be awarded a two-year contract, starting January 2010, and expected to write between 10 and 14 reports annually.
Cogges Manor Farm shuts
Cogges Manor Farm Museum, a working Victorian farm and museum in Witney, Oxfordshire, has closed following Oxfordshire County Council's withdrawal of £250,000 in funding earlier this year. Five permanent members of staff are to be redeployed by the council. The museum plans to reopen next April under the management of a charitable trust, with a one-off grant of £250,000 from the council.
Titian on show in London
Titian's Diana and Actaeon, which was jointly purchased for £50m earlier this year by the National Galleries of Scotland and the National Gallery in London, has gone on display at the latter venue. The 16th-century painting, which was bought from the Duke of Sutherland, will alternate between London and Edinburgh until 2012. It is also set to go on display at other venues across Scotland.

More than 3,500 hours of historical news footage housed in British Pathé's archives will be available from 1 November to MLA-accredited museums and public libraries under a new pilot scheme. Organisations will be able to access the archives through a £60 monthly subscription.
