Derby City Council is considering launching a corporate art package which would allow local companies to pay to hire objects from its museums' collections.
The project is part of an initiative to foster closer links with businesses in the area.
"The objects are selected from our 'reserve' collections," said Roger Shelley, principal keeper at the Silk Mill museum. "The companies
will need to meet certain environmental and security conditions, and we help them in terms of presentation and interpretation."
The plan follows Derby Museums' unsuccessful bid last year for £4.9m from the Heritage Lottery Fund to help refurbish Silk Mill.
