Publication of the national strategy for museums has been further delayed. It had been hoped that the strategy, which is being written by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA), would be launched at the Museums Association (MA) conference in Liverpool this month.

But in an article in this edition of Museums Journal (see link below), Roy Clare, chief executive of the MLA, says the strategy will now be published in the new year, once the findings of the review of Renaissance in the Regions are available.

MA director Mark Taylor said: "On the one hand, this has gone on long enough, and we should have had a strategy by now.

"But tying in with the work on Renaissance, which is a major delivery mechanism for the MLA, does make sense."
