The Scottish Railway Preservation Society (SRPS) in Bo'ness is to employ its first full-time curator following a £40,000 grant from the Scottish government's Recognition Scheme.
The scheme is managed by the Scottish Museums Council (SMC) and aims to increase access to collections.
The other organisations to have shared £234,000 in funding under the scheme are: Dumfries and Galloway Museums Service; Burns Monument Trust, Alloway; the University of Edinburgh's musical instruments collection; the Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery, Glasgow; and the Surgeons' Hall Museums, Edinburgh.
The SMC also announced a further seven collections that have been identified under the Recognition Scheme. They include the University of Aberdeen's entire collection and two of the City of Edinburgh's collections. For more details, visit www.scottishmuseums.org.uk
