Photography fellowship launched in memory of Khadija Saye
London Transport Museum honours artist who died in Grenfell tragedy
A fellowship for aspiring photographers has been set up in memory of Khadija Saye, the artist and museum educator who lost her life in the Grenfell Tower fire.
The Khadija Saye Photography Fellowship is being offered by the London Transport Museum, where Saye was working on the Young Freelancers learning team at the time of her death.
A talented artist, Saye specialised in photography and had been on the brink of international recognition, having just returned from exhibiting her work at the Venice Biennale when she died in the June 2017 blaze.
The successful fellowship candidate will benefit from a yearlong professional development programme, working on a variety of ad hoc photography projects across the museum. They will also receive support and training from the museum's Young People's Skills Programme.
The fellow will be part of a team that includes six Young Freelancers and an apprentice from the Young People’s Skills Programme.
The fellowship is open to anyone aged 18-25 “who is passionate about photography, creative learning and museums”.
The deadline for applications is 5 August and the fellowship runs for a year from 2 September.
