A new minister for culture has been appointed in Wales following changes in the responsibilities of the Welsh cabinet. Jack Sargeant was named minister for culture, skills and social partnership in September.
He takes over the culture brief from Jane Hutt, who was named culture secretary in July; Hutt is now the cabinet secretary for social justice, Trefnydd and chief whip.
Sargeant, who has a background in engineering, became the youngest ever member of the Senedd in 2018, when he was elected to represent Alyn and Deeside at the age of 23.
He previously served as the chair of the Petitions Committee, and also sat on the Health and Social Care Committee and the Children, Young People and Education Committee.
He was appointed minister for social partnership in July 2024 by then first minister Vaughan Gething following a cabinet reshuffle.

He was named minister for culture, skills and social partnership by the current first minister, Eluned Morgan, who was appointed in August following Gething's resignation.
Sargeant’s brief includes national museums and galleries, local museums and collections, the historic environment, Cadw and the Royal Commission on Ancient and Historical Monuments and the Arts Council of Wales.
He has also taken on responsibility for local archive services and the development of a National Archive for Wales.
