To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Art Fund Prize for Museums and Galleries, its organiser the Museum Prize Trust has launched an award to find 10 "unsung museum heroes".
Museum and galleries can nominate the staff and volunteers who have made a significant contribution to their organisation.
Nominations open today, and forms can be downloaded from the Art Fund Prize website (link below). The deadline for nominations is 4pm on 12 April.
The 10 unsung museum heroes will be announced in the June issue of Museums Journal, which will also feature a brief profile interview with each winner.
The winners will be invited to the awards ceremony of the Art Fund Prize 2012 at the British Museum in June, and given an exclusive tour of the museum. Winners will also receive a national art pass from the Art Fund.
Penelope Cobham, chairman of the Museum Prize Trust, said: “The Museum Prize has always recognised the outstanding work of world-class museums and galleries.
“In our 10th anniversary year, we are delighted to also celebrate the unsung heroes of the museum world whose invaluable contributions have a significant impact on organisations and their relationships with the public.”
