The National Museum Directors’ Conference (NMDC) published its advocacy document, Museums Deliver, last month.
The report, which makes the case for continued support for national museums, emphasises the contribution that museums make to the economy, as well as their role in education.
An NMDC spokeswoman said the idea was to set out what museums and galleries had achieved and why they need government support.
According to the report, the annual turnover of Britain’s major museums and galleries exceeds £900m.
