The British Museum has announced a partnership with the BBC that will involve more than 100 broadcasts on Radio 4 over the course of 2010.
A History of the World in 100 Objects is written and narrated by Neil MacGregor, the director of the museum. It aims to tell the history of the world over the past two million years, using objects from the museum's collection.
The partnership will also mean that 350 museums in the UK will each have the chance to select 10 objects from their collections that tell a local and international story. They will then be able to work with the BBC in their region to promote the project and their collections.
The initiative will also comprise a 13-part children's TV series on BBC and an interactive website.
