The Council for Learning Outside the Classroom (CLOTC), the organisation that promotes out-of-school educational opportunities, has made a plea for continued government funding.

Chief executive Beth Gardner urged supporters to write to their MPs to make the case for its funding carrying on after 2011.

In a statement, Gardner said the organisation was proactively seeking alternative funding, but a minimum core budget was needed to maintain its current work.

She added that the LOTC Quality Badge was not reliant on government funding and would continue to be awarded. More than 2,000 organisations have signed up to support the LOTC manifesto, while 660 have been awarded the LOTC Quality Badge, including a range of museums and galleries.
