We’re delighted to announce that MA Conference 2024 will be held on 12-14 November 2024 at the Royal Armouries Museum, Leeds.
This year’s conference is celebrating the innovation, inventiveness and creativity that make our museums such incredible places.
We face many challenges as a sector and society, yet museums continue to deliver transformative experiences that have a deep and lasting impact on people’s lives. Our work with our communities is more important than ever – and it is worth celebrating and advocating for.
Whether it is our engaging learning programmes, inspiring exhibitions or innovative community engagement projects, we are committed to offering inclusive, welcoming and engaging spaces.
Conference looks at how the sector continues to innovate, working closely with communities to use our collections to tell new stories, developing productive partnerships and embracing the opportunities created by new technology.
We explore how museums of all types and sizes are having a real impact on society, improving health and wellbeing, creating better places to live and work and offering spaces for debate and reflection.
We discuss the importance of ethics – and how values such as inclusivity, equity and social justice bring communities together at a time of increasing intolerance and division, and we’ll explore how museums at the heart of their communities can help people to better understand themselves and others.
Attending the conference gives you the new ideas, practical advice, and peer support you need to inspire you. So, join us in Leeds and online to celebrate the joy of museums and share your ideas how we can continue to deliver amazing work.

Fees
When booking please make sure you are logged in with the email associated with your membership, or that you have your organisation selected on your profile otherwise the wrong fee may be calculated.
Please also ensure you select the correct event package depending on whether you are attending online only (both days); for the full event in person; on Tuesday 12 November only in person; or on Wednesday 13 November only in person. Single days are not available for online only bookings.
Multiple in-person booking discounts
Institutional members who book in person full conference (or single day equivalents) for 10 or more members of staff can receive a 20% discount. If booking over 15 full conference places the discount is 30%. Please email events@museumsassociation.org for more information.

All-staff online attendance bookings
Our institutional and commercial members can book all-staff online only access to Conference 2024 for £650.
What’s included?
Our programme of sessions runs for two days over 12-13 November, plus on 14 November all in-person delegates are invited to take part in a programme of free tours around Leeds. There will also be three social events taking part over conference on the evenings of 11, 12 and 13 November.
If you are attending in person, the price includes attending all sessions and social events on the day(s) selected, plus the day of museum tours. It also includes morning and afternoon tea and coffees and a vegetarian/vegan lunch on 12-13 November.
For delegates attending online, you will be able to engage with live-streamed sessions over the two days, meet and interact with colleagues on our conference platform, and pose questions to our speakers. Please note that not all sessions will be live-streamed, with some available for in-person delegates only.
And if you miss anything, all delegates will also be able to view all the live-streamed sessions online for free after the event.

Our competency framework supports your professional development. It clearly shows different areas of competency and 4 levels within those areas, which you should be aiming to achieve throughout your work.
All six competencies will be explored throughout the programme of sessions at Conference 2024. Details of competencies for each session will be available when we launch our conference app in October 2024.
