Getting to the venue

  • The event takes place at the National Museum of Scotland, Chambers St, Edinburgh EH1 1JF.
  • Information on how to get to the museum by bus, train, tram, bike or car can be founded on the museum’s plan your visit page. This page also includes a list of the facilities offered at the museum, including cafes, cloakroom and wifi.
  • The main entrance to the museum is on Chambers Street, but delegates are advised to enter the museum via the Lothian Street entrance (shown on this museum map). From here, you will enter the South Hall where MA staff will be on hand to give you your badge. There will also a private cloakroom.
  • Our event takes place in the museum’s auditorium on level 1 (marked in yellow on this museum map).

What to expect

  • National Museum of Scotland’s auditorium is a traditional theatre/lecture theatre that seats up to 210 people. Photos of the space including the furniture and stage can be found on the museum’s venue hire pages.
  • National Museum of Scotland provides detailed accessibility information for the museum on its website.
  • There are toilets and baby changing facilities on all levels of the museum. Accessible toilets are available on all floors. There is a Changing Places toilet in the Entrance Hall on Level 0.
  • Lifts are available to all floors. You can check the museum map or ask a member of staff for directions to the nearest lifts.
  • Please see our accessibility guidance for in-person events – if you want to discuss your access requirements or need to request adjustments (such as closed captions or BSL interpretation) then please get in touch with us via events@museumsassociation.org. 
  • Tea/coffee will be served on arrival, followed by a vegetarian/vegan sandwich lunch. Please let us know if you have an allergies or dietary requirements when booking. We can also send photos of food or a breakdown of ingredients on request.

Sustainability

  • In line with the Museums Association’s commitment to sustainability, we will serve a 50/50 mix of vegetarian and vegan food at this event. This includes non-dairy milk.
  • Catering at National Museum Scotland is provided by Benugos. More details can be found on its sustainability page online.
  • We encourage delegates to bring their own reusable hot drink cups and water bottles to events.
  • We provide a digital-only programme. If you require a printed version or printed delegate list, please email events@museumsassociation.org.
  • We print badges on sustainable paper. Lanyards are reusable and made from bamboo. We do not provide plastic wallets for badges.
  • We no longer provide delegate bags with printed material inside.
