Hannah Crowdy
Head of Curatorial, National Museums NI
We are delighted to announce that Hannah Crowdy, head of curatorial at National Museums NI, has been elected as Northern Ireland trustee on the Museums Association’s Board. Hannah will serve a three-year term from 1 April 2026.
Hannah began her museum career in 2002 and has worked at National Museums NI since 2009. As head of curatorial, she leads on collections development and research, and oversees the organisation’s exhibition and education programmes. She plays a leading role in strategic activity relating to contested histories and peacebuilding in Northern Ireland. Hannah has also devised and leads on National Museums NI’s programme of decolonisation.
An AMA mentor and previously a member of the MA’s Ethics Committee, Hannah is invested in the MA’s campaigns and work, spearheading and advocating for them within Northern Ireland. She has also acted as the Northern Ireland representative for ICOM UK and serves on the board of the Lyric Theatre, Belfast.
On her appointment, Hannah said: “I am excited to have been elected to the Board as your new trustee for Northern Ireland. The Museums Association has provided me with invaluable support and direction throughout my career, and I look forward to giving something back and representing our wonderful NI sector by championing our voices, clarifying our differences and celebrating our contribution to the wider museum ecosystem.”
Wales trustee update
The MA was also seeking nominations for a trustee based in Wales. We were unable to fulfil the vacancy at this time and, following consultation with members and stakeholders in Wales, we will run another election in the autumn of 2026, when we will also be seeking nominations for a trustee based in England.
