We are delighted to announce the successful cohort of six museums taking part in this year’s Anti-racist Museums Programme. Building on the successful pilot year of the programme and our partnership with Talk Listen Create, the MA is supporting the leadership teams of these museums to progress towards becoming anti-racist organisations.

The Anti-racist Museums Programme presents an opportunity to create meaningful change in the UK museum sector through organisational and professional development. It is our hope that it will create a thriving network of museums and leaders that are committed to personal and organisational change, collaboration and peer learning, and being at the forefront of anti-racist practice in UK museums.

Here is the Anti-racist Museums Programme 2025 cohort:

  • Horniman Museum and Gardens
  • Museum of Watford
  • North East Museums
  • Royal Museums Greenwich
  • Shakespeare Birthplace Trust
  • Thackray Museum of Medicine

The 2025 cohort will come together for workshops, action learning and coaching through to April 2026, at which point they will join previous alumni from the programme in a continuing Anti-racist Museums Network.

The network so far includes participants from the pilot year of the programme, from Amgueddfa Cymru, Birmingham Museums Trust, Bristol Museums and Galleries, Edinburgh Museums and Galleries, Fulham Palace and the Migration Museum. Please see here for information about programme facilitators from Talk Listen Create.

The MA is continuing the Anti-racist Museums Programme as part of our long-term commitment to dismantling racism in UK museums and building on external evaluation of the programme. Please revisit this page for information about how to apply to join the programme in 2026.

“I am delighted that we are able to run this programme again and support successful applicants on their anti-racist journey. We have worked with sector experts to design a programme that is thoughtful and thought provoking and we are looking forward to working with a new cohort of museums that are determined to become anti-racist organisations.”
