Taking responsibility for your career development
The Associateship of the Museums Association is a level of membership of the Museums Association and a professional development award.

Through structured professional development and with the support of a mentor, it will help you to take responsibility for your development, develop job skills and the core competences needed for a successful career in museums and achieve your career aspirations. 

The AMA takes two to three years to complete (on average) and registration is open to anyone who works in or for museums, this can be on a full-time, part-time, voluntary or temporary basis - you will need to have worked in museums for a minimum of three years by the end of your AMA.

Costs

£250*/300 Registration (this includes the first year's annual fee)

* If your workplace is an institutional member of the Museums Association, the registration fee is only £250

£120 Annual fee

£240 Professional Review fee

You will pay an annual fee each year that you work towards the AMA.

Financial assistance from the Museums Association

If you are finding it difficult to pay the fees required for the AMA there are limited funds available to assist with these payments.

AMA Fees

To find out if you are eligible for financial assistance please email: cpd@museumsassociation.org.

Assistance is only available for those funding their AMA themselves.

Applications will be assessed on 1 February, 1 June, and 1 October.
