The power of museums to take action on climate and ecological issues, and to inspire others to do the same, is immense. There is so much passion and determination in the sector to work towards a regenerative future where the planet can thrive, and we’re excited to launch a comprehensive campaign on the subject this summer.

This will be supporting Museums Association (MA) members to:

Raise awareness – use your collections, programmes, exhibitions, and learning and engagement work to discuss climate and ecological issues, and to encourage audiences to take positive action.

Champion change – work with all partners to implement regenerative policies in your localities.

Be the change – embed climate action in all your organisation’s decision-making and operations, reducing energy consumption, resource use and carbon emissions.

We will continue to advocate on behalf of the sector to increase resources and facilitate partnership working on climate and ecological issues, as well as further improving our own practice. We’ll be embedding the subject across all our activities, from workforce and events to funding and content. We want all members to feel empowered and enabled to take action, whatever your working role and wherever you are on your sustainability journey.
