NML’s Carol Rogers in New Year honours list
Outgoing arts council chief also receives award
Carol Rogers, the executive director of National Museums Liverpool, has been awarded an MBE for her work with the museum’s House of Memories programme.
The scheme is aimed at the carers of people living with dementia, and runs training days in which participants can explore the museum's collections and discover how to engage with patients using objects from the museum.
Alan Davey, the outgoing chief executive of Arts Council England, was also among those celebrated in the New Year honours list. Davey is to join Radio 3 as its controller this month.
Jude Kelly, the artistic director of London’s Southbank Centre, received a CBE, while Richard Hills, the founder of Manchester's Museum of Science and Industry, received an MBE.
Two people from Imperial War Museums (IWM) received honours: director general Diane Lees was awarded a CBE and Ann Carter, the project director for the redevelopment of IWM London, received an OBE.
David Verey, the chairman of the Art Fund, was awarded a knighthood for services to museums and galleries.
Meanwhile Michael Day, the chief executive of Historic Royal Palaces, received a CVO.
