National Museums Scotland to tour exhibitions internationally

Programme kicks off with natural science show about monkeys
National Museums Scotland (NMS) has revealed plans to tour its exhibitions internationally for the first time.

This initiative will start with Monkeys! A Primate Story, which will start at the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences in Brussels in October. It will then travel to the Queensland Museum in Brisbane and then the Natural Science Museum of Barcelona.

This exhibition is on show at the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh (until 23 April) where it is called Monkey Business. It features 60 new taxidermy specimens created by NMS specialists, and skeletons of monkeys, apes, lemurs and bushbabies alongside interactives, film, models and photography.

"We have been lending material from our collections for many years and I am delighted that our exhibitions will now tour internationally for the first time, playing their part in promoting Scotland on the world stage,” said Gordon Rintoul, the director of NMS.
