Steve Gardam has joined the Roald Dahl Museum & Story Centre in Buckinghamshire as its new director. He was previously the strategic programme manager at the London Transport Museum.

Two directors join the Science Museum Group’s (SMG) executive group this month. Tom O’Leary, formerly the head of public engagement and learning at the Houses of Parliament, is the new director of learning; John Stack, who was the head of digital at Tate, is the SMG’s first digital director.

Richard Findlay, a former chairman of the National Theatre of Scotland, is the new chairman of Creative Scotland.

Historic Environment Scotland (HES) board news: Jane Ryder, the former chief executive of the Office of the Scottish Charities Regulator and chair of Arts & Business Scotland, is the first chair of the new HES board. She has been appointed for four years from January 2015.

She is joined by nine other board members: Janet Brennan, the chairwoman of the Scottish Castles Association; Alan Clarke, a former chief executive of the Northern Ireland Tourist Board; solicitor Trudi Craggs; David Gaimster, the director of The Hunterian, Glasgow; the former director of City Development for Edinburgh City Council, Andrew Holmes; Coinneach Maclean, a former deputy chief executive of the National Trust for Scotland; Fiona McLean, the vice-chair of the board of governors for the University of the Highlands and Islands; architect Paul Stollard; and Ken Thomson, the principal of Forth Valley College.

Businessman Rupert Gavin will take over as the chairman of Historic Royal Palaces from 5 May.
