Crowdfunding for our Institutional Members

We’ve teamed up with Crowdfunder to run #SupportOurMuseums, a UK-wide campaign to support our fantastic museums as they face the huge challenges of the coronavirus pandemic.

Together we have already raised over £250,000 for museums across the UK. And the journey’s not over yet: Museums Association Institutional Member museums are welcome to launch new campaigns of their own. 

Crowdfunder has waived all their fees, so there’ll be no cost to you and every penny donated will go straight to your museum. And setting up a Crowdfunding campaign is simple and costs nothing.

Taking part in the #SupportOurMuseums campaign led to amazing results for our Crowdfunder, as we smashed our target; securing £58,000 as well as receiving amazing messages of support. The campaign helped us reach out to people who love our museum, build new relationships and connect people with our vision for the future.

If your museum is a Museums Association member, you can take part and launch a crowdfunding campaign. Whatever the size or location of your museum, this is an opportunity to gain some much-needed support and to amplify your fundraising efforts as part of a UK-wide campaign.

Crowdfunder has a great record of supporting the cultural sector during this time, having worked with the Theatres Trust and the Music Venue Trust on similar campaigns and raising over £4m for their venues.

There is no commitment at this stage and at any point you can decide not to go ahead, but by registering you can find out the resources available and access a free recorded webinar on crowdfunding.

We have tried crowdfunding in the past with very little success, but with support from and professionalism of Crowdfunder this time it really worked. We were encouraged to plan and make the project as exciting as possible and the support to maximise social media and other channels led to us exceeding our wildest expectations.
