Liam Wiseman

Heritage engagement manager, Bristol Old Vic

I am working on a Heritage Lottery Fund project to tell the remarkable story of Britain’s oldest continuously running theatre following its 250th anniversary celebrations.

I have an MA in Heritage Management from Bath Spa University, and have previously worked for such institutions as The Holburne Museum, Exeter Cathedral, Stonehenge and Avebury World Heritage Site.

Having been a member of the MA for a couple of years now, it has been a pleasure to see the organisation take a more significant role in pushing for change within both museums and society. I myself was an MA Transformer earlier this year, where I met an incredible and inspirational cohort of people challenging the status quo to provide a more dynamic and socially engaged museum environment.

I also help co-chair the South West Emerging Museum Professionals group, a support network for emerging museums, whether they are early career professionals, or transitioning from another sector.

It’s a pleasure to be a part of one of the most active and responsible job sectors out there, and I look forward to working with each and every one of you. Please send me an email or message if you would like to talk, and I am always active on Twitter and various other social media platforms as well.

Marketing and Impact Officer – Cornwall Museums Partnership

I manage all marketing and advocacy campaigns for CMP and am currently project managing the Cornwall Heritage Awards. Prior to this role, I worked for the National Trust as Senior Visitor Experience Officer managing interpretation and programming. I began my career at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall.

I am currently studying for a Masters in Heritage and Interpretation with the University of Leicester in my spare time. My research focus is within the study of repatriation, specifically around its interpretation and representation within the media.

I am also a Trustee for Kids in Museums and will be a Site Judge for the Association of Heritage Interpretation’s 2019 and 2021 Awards. I previously served as Communications Lead on the South West Fed board. I was delighted to receive a Historic England Bursary to attend Clore Emerging Leaders in 2019.

I am looking forward to shouting about the brilliant work that is happening in museums in Cornwall, Devon and across the South West.
