Transformers: 2015-16

Cohort consists of 27 museums across England, Scotland and Wales
From July 2015 – March 2016, 27 mid-career museum professionals from a broad variety of backgrounds took part in an intensive personal development programme designed to support them to test out new ways of working that contribute to healthier, more resilient, diverse and adaptable organisations.

In this funding round there were 24 places available in England, funded by Arts Council England, two places in Scotland, funded by Museums Galleries Scotland, and one place in Wales, funded by Amgueddfa Cymru (National Museum Wales) and the Welsh Museums Federation.

Radical change in museums

Our vision is that Transformers will offer museums and the individuals who work in them to explore ways of being more central to their communities, more agile, more able to test out innovative commercial and operational practice and more able to foster working cultures, which allow for risk and failure.

This programme offers participants a space in which to test out new ideas, responding to the social, political and economic challenges that museums are currently facing.
