Leading Learning Programme aimed at senior cultural sector employees
Applications have opened for the Leading Learning Programme 2014, a UK-wide cultural leadership development scheme aimed at senior level employees in the public sector.

The year-long programme is run by the National Leisure and Culture Forum and takes place between January and December 2014. It is aimed primarily at senior managers of culture and leisure services in local government or in agencies and trusts that work closely with local authorities.

Employees from both the public and private sectors who wish to improve their ability to work in the political context are also encouraged to apply.

A number of bursaries worth £1,000 to £1,500 are available towards the programme, which normally costs £4,000 for local authorities and charitable trusts and £5,000 for cultural bodies and commercial companies. An early-bird discount is also available for people who apply before 11 November.

The programme aims to give participants the skills they need to achieve directorial and chief executive positions, and includes monthly mentoring sessions, residential workshops and action learning sets.

Applications will be assessed by the programme director Sue Isherwood and members of the Leading Learning steering group, including Museums Association director Mark Taylor.

The deadline for applications is 9 December 2013.
