Send us your session ideas by Friday this week
Time is almost up for sending in your session proposals for the Museums Association’s (MA) annual conference in Birmingham, which takes place on 5-6 November. The deadline for submissions closes this Friday.

Birmingham 2015 will be one of the biggest events on the museum calendar, and the MA is seeking challenging and thought-provoking proposals from both within and outside the sector, as well as sessions with an international dimension.

Themes and topics under consideration this year include diversity and engagement; higher education and partnerships; resilience, sustainability and survival; thinking, making, feeling; 21st-century ethics; and international museum issues.

Sharon Heal, the MA’s director, said: “The MA annual conference has gone from strength to strength over the past few years and we want to build on that success for Birmingham 2015.

“We had a record number of international delegates last year, and we are seeking proposals on sessions of interest and relevant to both UK and international delegates.

“We are also interested in proposals that touch on diversity on engagement, the maker movement, and highlighting education and partnerships.

“Last year we had some challenging and stimulating speakers, in particular from outside the sector, and we are looking to continue that tradition this year. We want to hear different voices that will inspire us.”

The MA conference takes place at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham on 5-6 November.
