Deadline is 4 April 2014
The Museums Association (MA) is calling for museums to submit an initial stage application to the Esmée Fairbairn Collections Fund.

The fund supports museums to develop understanding, use and appreciation of their collections and is worth £1m a year

Applicants can apply to one of two funding rounds to request amounts from £20,000 to £100,000.

After receiving stage one applications, the MA will invite around 15 applicants to make a full application, which will be judged by a committee of representatives from the MA, the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, and the museum sector.

Projects at an early stage of development will be considered, but applicants should be able to demonstrate the potential benefits of any funded work and a commitment to building those into future work.

The successful applicants in the last round were Gainsborough’s House (£58,000); the National Army Museum (£71,292); Southend Museums Service (£50,000); Chetham’s Library (£45,000); the Royal Armouries (£72,400); and the Polar Museum (£99,386).

The deadline for receipt of initial stage applications to the current round is 4 April 2014.
