Marsh Trust awards offer up to £2,500 prize money
Entries for the 2012 Marsh Trust awards for volunteers for engaging museum audiences are open until 30 April.

The British Museum and the Marsh Christian Trust present the awards, which recognise best practice and the innovative ways in which volunteers work in museums and galleries to engage the public with collections.

Prizes are awarded to volunteers on the following criteria: making a difference to their museum; improving the museum experience for visitors; and positive feedback from museum visitors and staff.

Any individual or small group of volunteers who worked in direct contact with the public at a museum or gallery during 2011 can apply. Entries must focus on the achievements of volunteers rather than the structure of an institution’s volunteer programme.

12 winners, one from each region in England and each devolved nation, will be awarded £500, while an overall winner will receive a further £2,000.

The prizes will be presented at a ceremony at the BM in July.
