Competition to present a 10-minute icebreaker at the MA's early careers conference
Come up with a creative icebreaker idea and win a free place at Moving on Up: Making an Impact with your Career – the Museums Association’s (MA) career development and networking conference.

Taking place at Nottingham Contemporary on 27 February, the event is aimed at people in the first five years of their career who want to get practical advice on standing out from the crowd, developing their networks and having a positive impact in the sector.

Museum professionals are being asked to develop a simple and creative icebreaker that they would be happy to present at Moving on Up 2019. The best entry will win a free place (worth up to £115) at the conference and travel expenses.

The aim of the icebreaker is to get delegates talking, help people find common ground and lighten the mood. Icebreakers should be suitable for a large group of people seated around conference tables.

Example icebreakers include getting delegates to introduce each other in an exciting way, picking a topic out of a hat to discuss with their table, or short activities and games. Last year’s Moving on Up included a balloon networking session. Proposals can use simple props, link to social media or include role play.

Please email a short description of your proposed 10-minute icebreaker session to alex@museumsassociation.org by 10am on 4 February.
