MA appoints national and regional representatives

Patrick Steel, 23.06.2014
Who represents your area?
The Museums Association (MA) has appointed national and regional representatives across Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, and the English regions.

Representatives are a vital link between the MA and its members. They will be attending meetings in their area and speaking on behalf of the MA, helping to keep the MA in touch with what is happening on the ground across the UK.

If you want to get in touch with your representative, then you can find their details in the Your area section of the MA website. Also in this section, you can discuss issues affecting your area in the forums, and read the latest local and national news, reviews, and comments.

Jane Wells, the MA’s membership engagement officer, said: “We are extremely pleased with the number of excellent candidates that have put themselves forward to represent the MA across the UK.

“We are looking forward to working with them to improve the MA’s understanding of issues across the UK, feed into our policy and advocacy work, and react to issues raised by members on the ground.”

Well done to all these people - I like accountability and these are accountable roles. It is essential that the MA represents the views of its membership as well as providing leadership to the whole sector, especially at a time of such pressure on all museums to control costs, AND increase income, AND energise our social role. The need for the MA to have informed and vocal reps around the nations and regions has never been greater.
