Last chance to register for AMA at discount

£50 off new registrations before 31 March
The special offer of a £50 discount on new registrations for Associateship of the Museums Association (AMA) ends on 31 March.

The AMA is a professional development award that takes two to three years to complete, with guidance from a mentor and support from peer groups and the MA’s professional development team.

The scheme is designed to improve people's skills, enhance their knowledge, and empower them to further your career. Participants can work towards their AMA in their own time, and some activities they undertake in their job will count towards professional development, including a work-based project.

Benefits of undertaking the AMA include professional recognition and an enhanced ability to spot opportunities and cope with changes and challenges. The award also encourages people to plan their career proactively, developing networks and professional contacts and keeping up to date with the latest developments.

Julie Hawksworth AMA, the visitor services manager at Tunbridge Wells Museum and Art Gallery, said: “As a result of undertaking the AMA, I have grown in confidence professionally which has helped me to secure a management role within museums.

“This is really exciting for me, as I will now have the opportunity to contribute more strategically to our sector, and share my skills and knowledge with others.”

Zoe Spencer, the MA’s marketing officer, said: “Professional development is really important for everyone who works in museums and galleries, and gaining the recognised and highly respected qualification of the AMA will stand anyone in good stead to enhance their career.

“This £50 discount is an extra helping hand, and means there’s no better time to sign up than now.”
