Meeting to facilitate MGS delivery plan
The Museums Association’s (MA) director Mark Taylor attended a meeting last week regarding the delivery of Scotland’s national museum strategy.

Taylor was representing the MA in Museums Galleries Scotland’s (MGS) stakeholder group, which meets around three times a year to discuss and support the delivery of the strategy.

MGS convened the stakeholder group in order to build relationships between bodies involved in Scotland’s museums, share information and best practice and bring strategic oversight and practical support to its delivery of the strategy.

The group's remit includes considering delivery options and opportunities for partnership, bringing forward any sector-related issues that may affect delivery and identifying opportunities to attract additional funding to the sector.

Taylor said: “The MA has a significant proportion of individual and institutional members in Scotland, which is why we are on the group.  At the same time it is good to bring a wider perspective from the experiences of the other nations within the UK.”

MGS launched its strategic vision for the Scottish museum sector in 2012 and published its delivery plan for the strategy earlier this year. The current delivery plan runs until 2015.
