Transformers application deadline extended

New deadline is 27 May
The Museums Association (MA) has extended the deadline for Transformers to 5pm on Wednesday 27 May.

Transformers aims to challenge people at mid-career level to develop new ways of working and thinking, experiment with fresh ideas and act as agents of change within their organisation.

Anyone working in or for museums and galleries, in any mid-career role, is eligible to apply. The MA is looking for professionals with ideas for values-based change who want to make a difference to their organisation and community through their practice.

Participation in the programme is free and includes peer-supported learning, residential courses, and the chance to pitch for up to £3,000 in micro-funding to invest in change for the participants and their organisations.

Candidates should have the support of their organisation to make changes to the way they work.

In this funding round there are 24 places available in England, funded by Arts Council England, two places in Scotland, funded by Museums Galleries Scotland, and one place in Wales, funded by Amgueddfa Cymru (National Museum Wales) and the Welsh Museums Federation.

Jess Turtle, the MA’s project coordinator, said: “The next few years will bring further challenges to the sector.

“It is more important than ever for museum professionals to be given the space and support to test out new ways of working, develop their practice and explore solutions for themselves and their organisations.”

The scheme will run from July until March 2016. Applications should be submitted by 5pm on Wednesday 27 May.
