Arts Council England (ACE) has announced the appointment of Peter Heslip as its London director of visual arts.

Heslip has been with the visual arts team at ACE since 2010 and was responsible for integrating museum responsibilities into the London office during the abolition of the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council.

He has more than 15 years of experience in the arts and museums sector, including a stint at Museum of Modern Art in New York and building projects at Tate Modern and Tate Britain.

Heslip will take over from outgoing director Julie Lomax, who is leaving for a position with the Australia Council for the Arts.
