Revised code to be drafted by this summer
The consultation into changes to the Museums Association’s (MA) Code of Ethics, which has now closed, received over 100 responses from individuals, museums and organisations across the sector.

Alistair Brown, the MA’s policy officer, said: “The range of responses we have had from across the sector demonstrates that there is a real desire to engage with the growing range of ethical issues that museums face. We are looking forward to examining these views in detail as we develop a draft text for the new Code of Ethics.”

The MA will be holding consultation events in Glasgow on 1 April and Belfast on 21 May. Dates have yet to be confirmed for events in Cardiff and Manchester.

The MA will consult on the draft code in the summer and plans to put the code to its members at its AGM, which takes place at its annual conference in Birmingham in November.
