Appointed places go to Steve Miller, Heledd Fychan and Kim Streets
The board of the Museums Association (MA) has announced the appointment of three trustees.
The appointed places go to Heledd Fychan, head of policy and public affairs at Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales, who will serve a second term on the board, Steve Miller, head of Norfolk Museums Service, and Kim Streets, chief executive of Museums Sheffield.
Maggie Appleton, the president of the MA, said that the board was keen to ensure that it had the right balance of skills and experience. “Kim and Steve will bring their knowledge of leading large museum services, and Heledd has already played an invaluable role on the board as chair of our Nations and Ethics Committees, and trustees were keen to ensure continuity so that we can fully represent our members across the UK.”
Miller said: “I am delighted to be joining the board of the MA and I am looking forward to working with Sharon Heal and the excellent MA team, especially on the exciting Collections 2030 work.”
Fychan said: "I’m honoured to be serving a second term on the board and continuing with the work of the Nations and Ethics Committees. Edrych ymlaen i barhau â’r gwaith, a pharhau i gynrychioli llais Cymru [Looking forward to continuing this work, and continuing to represent the voice of Wales].”
Streets said: "In a massively challenging landscape, museums have a real opportunity to be inclusive, participatory, welcoming places at the heart of our towns and cities – as a new member of the MA board I look forward to working with our members to inspire and develop our workforce and supporting our museums to continue to adapt and thrive."
The appointed trustees will serve a three-year term starting on 1 April. The MA’s 12-person board consists of eight elected members and four members chosen by the board for their specialist knowledge.
