Thread Drawn by Tobyboo and Atlas AV were announced as the winners of the Museums Association (MA) Exhibitor Awards 2014 at the MA’s 125th birthday celebration last night at National Museum Cardiff.

Exhibition visitors voted Thread Drawn by Tobyboo (Stand 6) as best looking stand. The company is run by embroidery artist Tina Crawford and specialises in creating bespoke, illustrated collections for museum and heritage shops.

Atlas AV (Stand 15) won the best product award. The Swansea-based company provides high quality audio visual solutions and won for its interactive touch table with motion-sensing technology.

Atlas AV’s sales and marketing manager Christine Grove said: “It is absolutely fantastic to win. We had a very nice evening last night and I just want to say thanks to the whole Atlas team.”

It is the first time either exhibitor has ever appeared at the MA Exhibition. They will receive a 10% discount on a stand at next year’s conference and £850 of free advertising with the MA.

Four delegates who voted in the awards won a prize draw and will be given a choice between a place at next year’s conference, one year’s MA membership or a place at a Museum Practice seminar: Nat Edwards, National Trust for Scotland; Sam Angelo-Sparling, Holburne Museum; Tariq Mian, Towergate Insurance; Ylva Dahnsjó, National Trust for Scotland.

The conference party marked the MA’s 125th birthday with a spectacular high-flying performance by acrobats from NoFit State Circus, along with champagne, Welsh delicacies and lots of birthday cake.
