Participatory framework to support museums’ work with communities
The Museums Association (MA) has launched Power to the People, a new framework for participatory practice that will support museums as they develop their work with communities, at its Annual Conference and Exhibition 2018 in Belfast.

Sharon Heal, the MA’s director, said: “We are delighted to be launching the Power to the People framework at conference.

“It has been put together with a steering group of experts in participatory practice and is based on research exploring what practitioners need. We hope the framework will support and improve the work that museums are doing with their communities and look forward to seeing the development of this work over the next few years.

“It’s really encouraging that major funders have backed this work and we are hopeful that this will inspire people who work in museums to use it. Particular thanks go to the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation and the Paul Hamlyn Foundation for their financial support and encouragement.”
