There is one month left to book a delegate place to the Museums Association (MA) Conference and Exhibition 2018 in Belfast at the super early bird booking rate.
Super early bird booking is 25% cheaper than the standard price, which in some cases is a saving of £155 on a delegate place.

There is an extra discount for Northern Ireland Museums Council and Irish Museums Association members, who can attend the whole conference at the reduced rate of £210.

The MA is also offering subsidised places at £129 for staff from smaller museums that are members of the MA – these are limited to 50 places so early booking is advised.
The theme for the conference, which takes place on 8-10 November 2018 at Belfast Waterfront, is Dissent: Inspiring Hope - Embracing Change.

The MA Conference and Exhibition will offer those taking part the chance to be part of an international conversation about the future of museums, galleries and heritage sites.

The delegate place includes a programme of events and tours on Saturday 10 November. Delegates will be able to enjoy the inspiring culture of Belfast, a welcoming and historic city that includes venues such as the Ulster Museum, Ulster Folk and Transport Museum, HMS Caroline, Titanic Belfast and the Mac arts centre.

“The conference will focus on having the courage to challenge traditional thinking to transform museums and society,” says Simon Stephens, the MA’s head of publications and events.

“How can we foster radical ideas that defy the norm? Which networks and individuals develop these ideas and how can we ensure that their voices are heard and valued in our work? And who are the dissenters from outside museums that can provoke, inspire and challenge us?

“Belfast 2018 will showcase inspiring work from across the world that places museums at the heart of their communities and transforms people’s lives. It will highlight the role all museums can play standing with their communities as they encourage activism and promote positive social change.

“We hope you will take advantage of the super early bird booking rate to make sure that you are part of the conversation about where we are, where we are headed, and what our priorities should be.”

The super early bird deadline is 30 April 2018.
