The Museums Association (MA) is seeking nominations from talented, motivated and creative people to stand for election to its board.

There are three vacancies on the 12-person board in the next election, each for a three-year term beginning on 1 April.

Candidates must be individual members of the MA, and need two other members to support their nomination.

The board is the MA’s governing body and is responsible for ensuring the MA fulfils its aims and objectives. Becoming a board member is an opportunity to shape the future of the sector and drive the strategic direction of the MA by helping to develop new policy and initiatives, and lobby government and other stakeholders on behalf of museums.

The role is not remunerated but reasonable expenses are paid.

A full description of the role and guidance on how to put your name forward can be found at

Sharon Heal, the MA’s director, says: “Our trustees play a crucial role in supporting and guiding the work of the MA and have added enormous value to the organisation over the past few years.

“I would encourage anyone who is interested in the future of the sector and the MA to consider standing for election to our board.”

Nominations will close at 11.59pm on 29 January 2017.
