Transformers: Influence deadline approaches

UK-based museum professionals can apply now for partnership-building programme
The Museums Association (MA)’s Transformers: Influence scheme, for individuals in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland looking to develop active partnerships between museums and their communities, is open to applicants until 23 July.

The MA is encouraging applications from freelancers and volunteers as well as people employed in a museum setting.

The programme will take place over three days, with two learning days focusing on content drawn from the Transformers Toolkit of Leading Self and Impacting Others, and a final sharing day, where participants will gather and reflect on their learning.
Participants will come away with ideas and practical tools to develop their own practice and initiate steps towards change.

"We are so delighted to be running a new version of Transformers: Influence in 2018 and would encourage anyone interested in the programme to make an application," says Jess Turtle, the MA’s inclusion manager. "At a time when the myth of museum neutrality is rapidly being dismantled, many in the sector want to make museums more relevant, more inclusive and more responsive to what is happening in society.

"We are therefore very excited to welcome a new cohort of radical change-makers to the national Transformers network and equip them with the tools to make those changes a reality for themselves and their organisations."

Transformers: Influence has a fee of £150 per participant. This fee will include attendance at the learning days and MA membership for one year (existing members will have their current membership extended by 12 months, or their direct debit fees put on hold).
