Museums Survey deadline extended

UK-wide survey will run until 11 November
If you haven’t had a chance to fill out the Museums Association’s (MA) UK-wide Museums Survey yet, there's another chance to do so as the deadline has been extended until 11 November.

The survey, which replaces the MA’s long-running cuts survey and is being run in collaboration with the Museum Development Network, aims to build a comprehensive picture of the current state of the museum sector across the UK.

The survey has had an excellent response so far, but the MA is particularly keen to hear from more museums in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The survey is short and would be easy to complete by a member of staff with a good overview of their museum’s work.
The questions cover: type of museum; visitor numbers and engagement; museum finances; volunteers and staff; education work; and challenges and opportunities for the future.

The MA’s policy officer Alistair Brown said: “We’ve had a great response to the survey so far, but we’d like to see even more museums participating – particularly in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland to ensure that we get a picture of the sector across the whole UK.
“The survey is the bedrock of our advocacy efforts for the next year – it helps us to demonstrate the challenges that the sector faces in discussions with policy-makers, and helps us to identify opportunities for the sector as a whole. But we can only do these things if museums participate in the survey.”

Please take a moment to fill out the survey and share it among museum colleagues before 5pm on Friday 11 November.
