After six years in Boston as the Matsutaro Shoriki chair, Art of Asia, Oceania and Africa at the Museum of Fine Arts, Jane Portal has returned to the British Museum as its keeper of Asia. She was previously the head of Chinese and Korean sections in the department of Asia at the London museum.

Jill Constantine has been appointed as the head of the Arts Council Collection at the Southbank Centre, London. Constantine had been its acting head since September 2013.

James Bradburne will leave the Florentine Palazzo Strozzi, where he is the director general, on 14 March. Arturo Galansino, who is curator of exhibitions at the Royal Academy of Arts, London, succeeds him.

Sir John Soane’s Museum news: businessman Basil Postan has become a life trustee and Nichola Johnson, the founding chair of the Clore Cultural Leadership Programme, has become the museum’s representative trustee of the Society of Antiquaries.

Nigel Carrington, a lawyer and the vice-chancellor of University of the Arts London, has become a trustee of the Henry Moore Foundation and has been elected chairman of the board. He succeeds Duncan Robinson.

Artist Dexter Dalwood, businessman Lance Batchelor and banker John Nelson have been reappointed as trustees of the National Gallery, London, for another term of four years.

Brookland Museum board of trustee changes: deputy chairman Mike Bannister has replaced the retiring incumbent David Trefgarne. Museums professional Marilyn Scott and businesswoman Georgina Wood have become trustees there.
