The latest appointments in the museum sector
The Royal Academy of Arts, London, has announced that Alison Myners will take over as the chair of the organisation’s development trust this month. This follows the departure of Evan Davies, who has served his six-year tenure as chair. Myners is a former chair of the boards of the ICA, London, and the Contemporary Art Society.
Battersea Arts Centre’s (BAC) artistic director and chief executive David Jubb is stepping down in April 2019. He joined the organisation as a development producer in 1999, and began his current role in 2004. Artistic associate Shelley Hastings, who has worked at BAC since 2004, and associate artistic director Sarah Golding, who has worked at BAC since 1999, will also leave early next year.
Sophie Heath has become the director of the Museum of Royal Worcester. She joins from Wolverhampton Arts and Culture where she was the collections of cer. Amanda Savidge retired at the end of November after 26 years at the museum,
the last 18 as director.
The Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) has appointed Annie Fletcher as its director. Fletcher, who joins from the Van Abbemuseum in the Netherlands where she is the chief curator, will start work on 1 March 2019. Previous IMMA director Sarah Glennie, who led the museum from 2012 to the end of 2017, is now the director of the National College of Art and Design, Dublin.
Sara Crofts is the new chief executive of the Institute of Conservation (Icon). Crofts, who joins from the Heritage Lottery Fund where she was the head of historic environment, starts at the organisation in January 2019. She replaces Alison Richmond, who has been the chief executive of Icon since 2010.
Hayward Gallery Touring has announced the two curators for the British Art Show 9, the biggest touring exhibition of contemporary art in the UK. They are Irene Aristizábal, the head of exhibitions at Nottingham Contemporary, and Hammad Nasar, a curator, writer and researcher.

Hemant Patel started as the interim chair of the Royal Armouries for six months on 2 November. Patel graduated from the University of Manchester having studied physics with astrophysics. He then moved into industry to train as a chartered management accountant.
