The chance to make a contribution to a project as exciting as our move to a brand new building (opening in Kings Cross in 2018) and the creative challenge to embed physics within culture through events and exhibitions.

I will manage our new public gallery and help to develop partnerships with cultural institutions and artists to reach new audiences with physics.

How’s it been so far?

In my first week, the institute ran an event in partnership with the School of Advanced Study and the Being Human Festival that explored the psychology, physiology and physics of food. It was amazing to see how the physics of, say, the structure of chocolate shapes how we experience consuming it.
