Dulwich Picture Gallery in south London has appointed Jennifer Scott as its new director.

Scott, currently the director of Bath’s Holburne Museum, will take over in April 2017 from Ian Dejardin, who is leaving to become the chief executive of the McMichael Canadian Art Collection in Ontario.

Scott has been at the Holburne since August 2014 and oversaw the museum’s centenary celebrations this year.

“Through its exceptional collection and pioneering programme, Dulwich has an enduring appeal grounded in its 200-year history,” Scott said. “Ian Dejardin’s dynamic leadership has placed the gallery in a strong position for the future.”

Dejardin has been at Dulwich Picture Gallery for nearly 20 years, 12 of them as director.

Dulwich Picture Gallery attracted 220,000 visitors in 2015-16. Next year it will open its first pavilion building as part of celebrations marking 200 years since the museum first opened its doors to the public.
