MA officially relaunches revised FMA scheme
The Museums Association (MA) handed out 19 professional development awards yesterday in a special ceremony at Liverpool 2013.

MA president David Anderson presented the Associateship of the MA (AMA) to 18 museum professionals at the ceremony, as well as handing out one Fellowship of the MA (FMA) award.

Anderson said: “It’s good to be here to acknowledge the very hard work that everyone has done to get their award.”

The MA officially launched its revised FMA scheme at the ceremony.

The award is designed to encourage and recognise an advanced level of professional development in any area of museum work.

MA board member Isabel Churcher, who presided over the working group to redevelop the award, said: “We consulted with all MA members to get feedback and today we are launching the revised FMA. It is still very much focused on excellence and we’re looking for people going above and beyond their current role.

"The process is more light touch so there’s a lot less paperwork. We hope that the new system is more effective for people.”

Anderson said he was looking forward to presenting the first FMA awards under the new scheme at next year's ceremony.
