The Welsh Museums Festival, which was launched during last year's Museums Association annual conference in Cardiff, is to run for a second year.

The first event ran in early October 2014, but the 2015 Welsh Museums Festival will coincide with this year’s autumn half term, running from 24 October to 1 November.

Nicola Williams, a member of the All Wales libraries, archives and museums audience development team, said: “We’re staying with October but following feedback from staff and partners, we have decided to run the campaign over October half-term to allow more flexibility to target a varied audience and to coincide with the Museums at Night two-day festival on 30-31 October.”

Last year’s festival, which involved 100 events at 41 museums and galleries, gained extensive media coverage.

This year’s event will continue to have the backing of Amgueddfa Cymru (National Museum Wales) and the Federation of Museums and Art Galleries Wales. The federation will be considering grant applications for the 2015 event for specific activities and projects.
