Museum professionals at all stages of their careers – and representing a wide range of jobs in the museum sector – will be appearing at Don’t Stop Me Now, the Museums Association’s first event for those starting their career. The event will take place at University College London (UCL) on 24 November.
Speakers will include Tonya Nelson, the director of museums and cultural programmes at UCL, Miranda Lowe, the principal curator for invertebrate zoology at the Natural History Museum, Emily Anstead, the British Library’s head of trusts and foundations, and William Tregaskes, the museum coordinator at Cynon Valley Museum and co-founder of Front of House Museums.
The event will provide guidance on the options available to people at the beginning of their museum careers, support on career development, and advice on what museums are looking for in their employees.
The characteristics required to succeed in the sector, as well as what support is available, will also be discussed, alongside engaging activities and breakout sessions.
Delegates will also have the opportunity to see behind the scenes at a nearby museum, including the Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology, the Grant Museum of Zoology and the UCL Art Museum.
Tickets cost £25 for MA members, and £35 for non-members.
